Akebono ProACT Brake Pads
Akebono’s advanced ProACT™ Ceramic Disc Pads come as original equipment on many popular cars and trucks in America today. In addition, they are ideal as replacement parts and are the first choice consumers should make when looking to upgrade from conventional pads.
Akebono Ceramic Technology (ACT) helps to reduce the brake noise and vibration you hear in standard metallic brake pads and diminish the harshness (NVH) problems associated with several other aftermarket brake products. Ceramic technology is also well-known for the reduced amount of dust, resulting in cleaner wheels and tires, in addition to reducing the wear on the rotors.
ProACT™ ceramic brake pads are effective right out of the box, the are extremely quiet, they recover quickly and prove a very consistent feel when driving.
All Akebono ceramic disc brake pads are asbestos-free.
Installing brake pads can be a do-it-yourself project, but for maximum safety, brake components should be installed by a competent mechanic. Incorrect installation of brake components can cause a major safety problem or an accident.
Be sure to inspect your brake pads regularly and replace as required. Generally, when there is 1/8″ or less of pad material left you should replace your pads. Rotors should be replaced if they begin wearing thin or become excessively scored.
Track and Competition Use
Due to the extremes of heat and pressure encountered by brake systems used for track and competition applications, all brake system components (pads, rotors, calipers, lines, hardware and fluid) must be compatible and should be inspected between sessions. Brake pads and rotors should be replaced before they reach wear limits.
